Dva legendarna muzičara udružila su se za kompilaciju 'Son Of Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs And Chanteys'. Tom Waits i Keith Richards su snimili pesmu "Shenandoah".

Kompilacija sastavljena uz pomoć Johnny Depp-a, režisera Gore Verbinski-og i producenta Hal Willner nastavak je albuma objavljenog 2006. Novi, dupli disk sa 36 pesama biće obavljen 18. februara. Zappa-in saradnik Ray Collins preminuo u 76. godini

Muzičar Ray Collins, jedan od osnivača Mothers Of Invention, preminuo je u Claremont, California, u ponedeljak 24. decembra 2012.

Collins je karijeru počeo svirajući R&B obrade u bendu Soul Giants. Sa Frank Zappa-om se upoznao 1961. godine posle koncerta u svom rodnom gradu Pomona. Zappa se 1964. priključio Soul Giants kada je Collins otpustio tadašnjeg gitaristu Ray Hunt-a. Postoje dve priče kako se to desilo: po Zappa-i, Collins je pesnicom onesvestio Hunt-a; po Collinsu: nije bilo pesničenja.

Sa Zappa-om grupa je krenula drugim pravcem, počeli su sa sviranjem sopstvenog materijala, uglavnom je Zappa bio autor. Od Soul Giants imena benda, preko Mothers, do konačnog Mothers Of Invention.
Ray Collins je bio glavni vokal na prva dva albuma: 'Freak Out!' (1966) i 'Absolutely Free' (1967), posle kog je napustio bend.

2009. u intevjuu za The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin Ray Collins je rekao da razlog njegovog napuštanja Mothers-a je umor od Zappa-inog isticanja satire: "Ja sam samo hteo da pravim lepu muziku. Odrastao sam na Johnny Mathis-u i Nat King Cole-u". Collins se još nekoliko puta udružio sa članovima Mothers-a, kao na doo-wop albumu 'Cruising with Ruben & the Jets' iz 1968.

Zadnjih godina svog života Ray Collins je živeo u kombiju u Claremont, California. Radio je kao taksista u Los Angelesu, prao sudove na Hawaii-u, primao je socijalnu pomoć i tantjeme za baladu "Memories of El Monte" koju su on i Zappa napisali za bend Penguins inspirisani njihovom pesmom "Earth Angel".
